Pedro Pascal, actor from 'Fantastic Four: First Steps': "My blood is from the north of Spain"

Chilean actor Pedro Pascal has once again made headlines for his emotional connection to Spain during the presentation of the film Fantastic Four: First Steps , one of Marvel's big bets for this summer. The actor, known for his work in The Last of Us and The Mandalorian , has stated that his roots directly link him to the north of the country , something that has deeply marked his experience in the production of the superhero film.

The New York-based actor spent several weeks filming key scenes for the film in Oviedo, a city he hasn't hesitated to call a second home. "Oviedo was incredible. My blood is from northern Spain, so I felt right at home, " he confessed in an interview reported by the EFE news agency.

His father's surname, Balmaceda, is of Basque origin, while his mother's, Pascal, is from Mallorca . This combination, he says, reinforces the special bond he felt while filming in Asturias.

During filming in Oviedo , Pascal shared scenes with Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, the new cast of Fantastic Four: First Steps . The actor highlighted the excellent working environment: "The team was incredible. I love being a part of this," he said. The production chose the Oviedo Exhibition and Congress Palace, also known as "the Calatrava" after its architect Santiago Calatrava , as one of its main locations, a setting that director Matt Shakman defined as "perfect for the film."

The new installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which premieres on July 25 , sets part of the action in this iconic building, which has been transformed into the headquarters of the UN and the Future Foundation in the film. Pedro Pascal's latest visit to Spain comes two years after filming the medium-length film Strange Form of Life with Pedro Almodóvar.
